Ear Candling may not be a complete cure but there are multiple cases worldwide where the treatment has helped to substantially alleviate the problem. Anyone can be treated with Ear Candles including children, providing they don't have any of the contra indications indicated below.
CONTRA INDICATIONS:
Infection/inflammation of the ear. Surgery on the ear within the last 6 months. Perforation of the ear drum.
The Treatment:
You will be placed in a comfortable position laying down on your side. The ear candle (which is made of Beeswax and herbs) will be placed gently just inside the ear canal and lit. A protective hand towel will be placed close to the ear and surrounding area. The ear candle will then be held firmly in place by a (paper plate wrapped in foil) and lit producing a small slow burning flame. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and draws the impurities from within the ear and allows for easier drainage through the Eustachian tube to the throat. This process is known as the chimney effect. The flame creates a vibration of air in the candle's shaft generating a massage- like effect on the eardrum, equalizing pressure, clearing sinuses and inducing a pleasant feeling of warmth and balance. You will experience a fire crackling sound as the candle burns down and possibly some slight popping of the ear. You will also feel a gentle massaging sensation to the ear drum and some warmth as the candle burns lower. When the candle has burned a few inches close to plate it is carefully removed from the ear and extinguished. The entire process is then repeated for the other ear.
